The Birth Announcement Dilemma
Have I mentioned that designing for myself is stressful? Well I’m having a kid sometime in the next month, and people keep asking me if I’ve picked out birth announcements. The first level of difficulty is that we don’t know what flavor Cletus the Fetus is going to be, so I can’t really make a final decision yet.
The second level of difficulty is that I feel like I have to design them myself, because it’s what I do. But I’m also afraid I won’t physically be able to get them done in a timely manner, so my kid still might wind up with a mass-produced introduction to the world. Right now my only requirements are that it has a photo, it’s not too cliche, and it’s not too unisex. No biggie, right?
Here are some designs from around the web that could wind up as either inspiration, or the real thing:

I know, I know…this one is pretty darn unisex. And you’re probably wondering what’s the deal with the orange. The nursery is teal, olive and orange, so orange has become my default accent color for baby things. via Etsy
Not very practical for mailing, I know, but this metal stamped plaque would be very cool for the wall. via Etsy

I also have a bird/owl thing going on in the nursery. There are actually several from this Etsy shop I like. via Etsy
See? A bird thing. via Cardstore
I’d love to do letterpress, but man, it’s expensive. via Bella Figura
